ABOUT

Whose is the helpful hermit?

My name is Amy Hollis, I am an LCSW in the Fort Worth area. I graduated from Texas Christian University and Brite Divinity School in 2019 where I received a dual degree LMSW and M.Div. respectively. During that time, I had the opportunity to work with Volunteers of America: Resolana and VITAS Healthcare as a social work intern and chaplain. In these positions I worked with clients and their families, in group and individual settings, to assist in identifying and achieving personal goals as they worked through difficult life circumstances. From 2019-2023 I had the joy of working as a school social worker for KIPP Truth Elementary in South Dallas. My time there allowed me to work with families, teachers, and administrators to provide mental health services to our amazing students. This includes individual and group counseling, behavior planning, tutoring, case management, crisis assessment and support. I have also had the chance to provide mental health professional development for our teachers and staff across my time at KTE. During my time at KIPP I had the opportunity to work as the Co-Lead of School Based Mental Health for KIPP DFW, where I worked with our mental health staff across the district as a mentor, point of contact for the state, and provide district wide trainings for our school based mental health team.

Currently, I have had the amazing privilege of teaching at my alumna mater, Texas Wesleyan University, as an adjunct professor of religion and philosophy. In addition, I work as a private practice therapist at Ellie Mental Health in NRH, in which I have worked primarily with survivors of trauma and their families to assist in building bridges and reforming relationships.
